2nd gen 13b to 1st gen

I'm getting a 2nd gen 13b for my 85 gsl-se. I've heard that all i'll have to change is the front plate for the mounts and all of my accessories. Has anyone done this? Does anyone know any rotary Mechanics in NC?

Thanks,

Justin

No body here has ever done it, be the first. Not really, but there is a search function, wonderful wealth of info availible, but only if you use it.

Welcome to the forum.

So if its an s4 motor, the front plate should bolt right up and drop in?

The GSL-SE front cover will bolt up to a S4(86-88) or S5(89-92) engine for mounting the engine block.
But,only the S4 oil metering pump will bolt to the GSL-SE front cover. The S5 engine has and MUST retain, the big electronic oil metering pump it came with, and that will not bolt up to the GSL-SE cover without a bit of heliarc welding and milling.
The only real way around this is if you run a standalone ECU,which can use premix or a mechanical S4 pump.Or have your cover modded, like I did.

Wood is correct,GSL-SE front cover and GSL-SE oilpan is all you need to get and FC engine mounted up in an SE chassis. For 12A cars, you have to tweek with the mounts a little for a 13B swap.
