245/45/17s under a 1st gen?

Anyone seen tyres that wide under a 1st gen without flares or modified guards?

I want to get a set of Nitto 555Rs for my car but the smallest in 17s are 245s!

Any ideas?

You guys probably won't like the rx7 (v8swap) but it has some big tires on it. A little too big for me.

Have you checked out the BFG g-force drag radial?
I have not heard weather it works well or not. But they do come in some smaller 17" sizes

No tubs!

If I was near you though Mike I would have the car at your mates for sure

In the videos I have full slicks, not drag radials. I need some street tyres and I can get the 555Rs for only $20AUS more than the Yokohama AO32Rs I have now, but they don't come in the right size

After I found out that Fox Body Mustang Rims would mount onto our 4x110 bolt pattern I mounted my dad's 93 cobra rims. They are 17" rims w/ 245/45 sumitomo HTRZ2 tires and they fit, seemed a bit tight tho, but I only drove it around the block. This was only on the rear tho. I didn't try the front.
