I believe that the coffee can is a part of the emissions.. You can remove it if you wish, your exhaust will just smell more

Oh and for the battery relocation, i think the reason everyone puts it in the storage bin is because, the farther you move it, the bigger the guage wire you need.
Thick guage wire can be expensive.

hehe umm this is a rx7 forum not a honda one right "my exhaust tip is as wide as i am tall and i like to eat rice and shove long sharp objects into my rectum" hehe

back to the subject i know most people put the battery in the storage bins but i have plans to put subs in there.

and removing the (i guess charcol canister) what does it connect to and what if anything do i have to plug off.

It is the charcoal canister and it's for your evaporative emissions. Now whether you can remove it or not is up to someone more experienced than I.

There's no need to get rid of the charcoal canister. It has no detrimental effect on performance.

In fact, if you do remove it, you'll be able to tell by the immediate increase of gasoline smell in your cabin. Do your lungs a favor and leave it on

the canister just completes a reaction of your fuel fumes, i'd keep it in there if i were you.

Another option to relocating the battery is to replace it with a lightweight battery. I've got a 13.5 lbs battery in my car that cost me $60 (I needed a new battery anyway). The battery is only something like 16Ah, but has a lot of capacity to start the car.

http://www.hepi.com/genesis.htm

It's one of those batteries. The Hawker Genesis. I didn't bring the RX-7 with me today, so it's not out in the parking lot. I will get the exact model number when I get home from work later on today and post it, as well as where I bought it.

Ok, here is the battery description:

Hawker 12 Volt/16 Ah 0769-2007 SLA - Genesis (G16EP) Sealed Lead Acid Battery

The actual model is the Hawker G16EP. The Price is $69.95, but if you order from http://www.portablepower.com and use the coupon code VMAX, you'll get 10% off. I dug up that VMAX coupon on a motorcycle website or something, tried it, and it worked.

It has started my RX-7 perfectly every time.

There's only one catch. The battery terminals are not standard car terminals. They are threaded holes and it comes with bolts that will fit in, so you need either something similar to a ring lug to screw down, or a battery terminal adapter. I happened to dig up an unused battery terminal designed for that type of battery in a friend's garage, and I am using that. I think you can buy the adapters from http://www.summitracing.com. You could probably go to an auto parts store and find the different terminals that will bolt down.

PS. If you look at the dimensions, it's much smaller, and you'll have to find a good way to secure it. I'm just bending some aluminum that I'll bolt onto the existing tray to hold it.
