1stgen.net or 1stgen.org for how-to's and other 1st gen info...
What do you guys think? I don't have the money or the time to man a site like that adequately, but I could however help out and do my fair share of research/writing. I think having a single place to lookup specs and stuff would be great. Allow _ANYONE_ to post to it and such...
What are yall's thoughts?

I have access to high volume servers no charge. I run one from home on my broadband line and another on the seacoast, it's on 3 T1 lines. They both are DEC Alpha 600mhz machines. We could have aas much space as we need.

OK, so here's our setup so far...
We have someone willing to offer the site a place to live... hosting. (that's the hardest thing to find sometimes)
I can work on layout and graphics (although I don't really like having a graphically intense site).
Domains are cheap cheap. I can see about buying 1stgens.net or something... that's all down the road. I guess the first thing we should do is start to come up with a site layout and perhaps all the front end forms and stuff so whoever we find to do the backend (php?) can do the grunt work
Otaku, what are the sorts of servers we are going to be using for this, and who will have access to the stuff. Our site shouldn't run over 10 meg really. Unless we do better than expected.
I will come up with a preliminary design tonight for the site and maybe a features list. What do you guys think?

Otaku, who is your broadband provider? My provider is the worst on the planet! AT&T Narrow band service. Well, narrow when it is actually up. I have had nothing but trouble with them since they started.
As far as a 1gen.org site or what not, my biggest question is what are you hoping for that this site doesn't provide? I kinda like this site. As far as tech items and things go, it is the only site I visit!
Oh well, my 2 cents.

Ok, yes I us AT&T they are really good in my area. Who can have access anyone who aske me to set them up a user account. As for space we have more then enough. Both servers are Linux machines running Apache web server and they do have PHP installed last I checked. The one server I have local gets better bandwidth then the one on the T1s at times. My bandwidth seems to run around 1.5mb to 3mb. I don't know why either, since everyone else I know has sucky bandwidth, must have to do with the machines and all.

If we are going for a site with how-to's that would be great.
how to do everything on the 7, not just chit-chat
but the actual way to do things.
So when a newbie comes on, we can just point to the link and off they go to read what we have to say on that subject.

Well...to be a picky, the SA was the original Are you going to include it or just fb's??
I'd like to contribute what i can, if possible. My 79 is *completely* stock at the moment, so it's a good starting point to get picture of what to take off to do certain mods, as opposed to only finished product shots
Besides, it'll give me a reason to make some improvements, and get her fixed up
Also, a good identifacation guide would be helpful, since this seems to be newbie focused... there are several out there already, so borrow their information and cite it. That'll get things going quite quickly. Then improve on the content by simplifying irrelevent details, or technical language. anyway....lemme on board!

i remember when i got my first rex (81 gsl) the one thing i had problems with was finding pics and descriptions of what people were talking about just a suggestion to include pics at various points of modification for the newbies
