1st Real Problem with my First Gen
So about 6months ago i went to school with my first gen, after about 6 hours of resting and 30 degree weather i walk back to the car to go home. It would not turn on any of the aux power ie dash light, clock lights, turn signals, started wouldnt crank, ect it was dead to the world. Then i turn on the headlights to see if it was the battery but the headlights poped right up and had what looked like full power. I went to turn them off and the headlights themself went off but didnt power down they stayed in the up position. I check the batery for full votage and it had it. So i called a tow truck after 2 hours of waiting for the tow truck i decided to try turn the car on and all the power came back on and worked fine., i changed nothing. So i drove it hope and had not heard from it since. Until today. I was chaning my oil and after i got done, the car showed the same problems, head lights were the only thing that i could see that was turning on, but still they would not go down, and all the aux still still wouldnt power on not evena faint light. It has full battery power, ect. I think it is the ignition solenoid, ingniton switch, or some kind of relay under the dash. Has anyone else had this problem, its a 85 gs 12a. No mod or anything completly stock and it has about 60k miles on the chasis/motor. Please tell me where i should start looking as i need to get this fixed to drive to work Monday.
Thanks,
Marc

Those wire links can be replaced with the later style fuse links. The 2 outer ones are ~30 amp, while the center (main) is ~50 amp. Best of all, these can be bought at any parts store, and all 3 cost less than one of the wire style.
Some people claim the center one needs a 60 amp, but I have had no issues with running a 50, even with headlights and A/C running.
