We're trying to develop that. Carl's doing most of the work in that department, since he knows all about flow dynamics and has a flowbench.
It's labor intensive, time consuming, and doesn't pay much.
Meanwhile, we may be working with others who are developing manifolds that will far outflow the unported Nikki manifold.
They will probably first appear on the BYMC forum.

spoon!
Cool... heh. I've been playing around with manifolds a little bit myself... nothing too scientific yet, but the summer's long and I've no hobbies other than cars.
Should actually just set up a testbed engine one of these days...

Hell, I dunno how much easier I can make it for folks.
I mean, I offer a thirty day money back warrantee!
Who the hell else does that?
Only after an optimally flowing intake manifold is being produced for the Sterling Carb, will I put it up against ANY other carb out there on a 12a stock port.
I know it in my gut that this carb will kick all *** on a stockport with an optimized manifold.
I suspect it will kick everybody's *** on a 13B stockport as well as a 12A streetport, too.

Speaking of manifolds- I found the leak(s) on the 79 manifold I recently picked up. I'm pretty sure I fixed them but I really can't tell unless I swap them again.
Just out of curiosity- Do the SA manifolds flow that much better than say, my 85 manifold? I know the 85 has the buterfly valve, but is that the only thing that impedes flow?
I can not make out much of a difference between the two (using eyeballs, that is).

SA manifolds DO flow better, but I suspect a '74 12A manifold flows even better. I just need to get a spacer for it. Maybe I can use an FB spacer (since it acts as a heat shield too).
Sterling, I'm willing to bet my '74 12A manifold will flow very good compared to a modded SA manifold. The streetport on the '73 plates is fairly large. I copied it and used it on my R5 plates and really had to remove a bunch of iron. A lot more than my somewhat milder port I had done only months earlier. I'd say it's a fairly aggressive streetport. I just don't know how large (in CFM) of a Sterling carb I'd need. That's where your experience comes in. Since you threw out 450CFM as an arbitrary number, I guess that's what I'd like to get from you or Carl, unless you say otherwise.
You know ignition like I know carbs. That's why I'm asking.

450 is not an arbitrary # thrown out there, my friend.
That's what the Sterling Carb flows! (...452, actually. )
That's the "Sterling Carb".
If we cut a different venturi configuration to meet the needs of another application, it will be the build quality and performance delivery expected from a Sterling Carb, but it will be called something different.
As far as manifolds, we have pretty much all the different American-bound Rx-(?) carb manifolds.
I like the rx3 SP, but the reality is that these are very difficult to find.
So we need to see what we can do with the most plentiful model to make it easy on you guys, and easy on our selves.

Thanks for all the good info last night Sterling. I'm going to try and fix that Holley regulator today (hopefully).

Heh, touchy! Ok, I'll look forward to getting a 452CFM Sterling carb, or the other one with the same build quality and performance delivery that I'd expect, only larger. Is that what is called a Banana carb? Or a PB&J carb?
As for the manifolds, I have a '73 12A, '74 12A, '79 12A, two FB units with the shutter valve. The '74 unit looks like it'll flow better than any of the others, unless I cut channels between primaries and secondaries on the '73 one, since I lacks them.
