the 1st gen for tall people.

Im 6'2". my friends are as tall or taller.

my question is: the ist gen is a pretty small looking car.. will I be able to fit in the drivers seat without being all scrunched up or my head bumping into the cieling?

I'm 6'1" and fit in mine no prob; but I've got an SE with multiple seat adjustments and a glass sunroof (frees up at least 2" of headroom)

As to the seats and general cockpit layout themselves, the car is surprisingly well engineered towards ergonomics. I feel waaay more comfy in my ReX than I did even in my Z car.

im 6'1 and dont have a moon roof. for me headroom is fine, but in reality i wish the seat would go back maybe 2 more inches for my optimum comfort. passengers over my height should be fine, but i dont know if i could drive if i was 6'3 with any comfort. but then again i like to sit back pretty far anyway. just check it out, thats the best advice i can give.

i'm 6'3" last time I checked ... I fit in OK but i have to have my seat tilted back otherwise i hit my head on the roof lining ... UK cars also have less leg room in the front as the rear seats prevent the front seat from going back to its full extent

got a glass sunroof on order so that should hopefully sort it out

rearseats affect front headroom?

too bad, I live in canada whre 4 seaters are available, and i wanted one of those. I guess its just an excuse to get some racing seats, which ive heard are lower.

hey, I got a 4 seater 1st gen, and I'm 6'3" or so, and pretty wide too.

the rear seats dont in any way limit the seat travel, well not in mine anyway.

specs are 1979 Jap-spec RX-7, it has 1990?? RX-7 seats fitted, and the reclining is stopped by the sub box in the back (it sits on the back of the rear seat folded down) and I dont have any problems fitting in.

but some people might find it a little cozy. but try it out to see what you think.

actually I think it had a little more room witth standard seats as I think they sit down a little lower than the later seats.

I sold my GSL and bought a GS so I wouldn't have to look at the hail, deer, and rust damage anymore.

One bonus was the cloth seats instead of GSL's hard cracked and high filled leather. I never was able to fully fit my head in that GSL, even with its till options or how far I had it back. Me 6'3"

I'm moderately thin, my midsection is quite longer and my legs are shorter then most people so I sit higher and don't need the seat that far back. But apparrently the cloth seats have a deeper "dish" in them and I clear the moonroof by 2 to 2-1/2 inches compared to the GSL's leather hitting the roof.

I'm also 5'14" and the only prob I had was in the leg room department. When releasing the clutch my left knee would wedge between the steering wheel and the door handle. I've got an 84 GSL-SE and the handles are removable so I took the door panel apart and removed the door pull (still have the cup in the armrest to close the door). Plenty o' leg room now.

I'm mostly leg so headroom isn't a problem.

Just give one a sit - you'll be able to tell pretty quick if you fit.

I'm just 5'10" (if I'm correct: 1m75 is what we call it), and obviously the car is a PERFECT fit. My dad doesn't fit that well, he's 6'1", and is using the extra room the glass moonroof gives him. Might just be that he doesn't put the seat in the correct angle enough, he's getting old, at 50 :-) Better don't tell him that, but I wonder how he will experience his 1980 (no sunroof) once it's ready...

I'm 6'3 and I fit better in the rex than I do in my mom's neon. The leg room is perfect with the seat all the way back, and head room is fine in my 82 GS with a sunroof. I don't think the sunroof adds much to my head room, but I may be wrong.

I'm 6'-3" and fit fine, i have the seat backs reclined a bit, which helps a lot. You'll be fine.

I've got a friend who's pretty large and is 6'6" and he just barely fits in. That's the passenger side. He says the leg room is plenty, just his head. heh. usually we just lift the sun roof off and it's all good.

I'm 6'1" 175lbs and I'm always comfortable in my 84GS, until I'm getting out. I always feel like I should just open the door and roll out. Its so low to the ground and my legs are long, but I love it.

6'3" and 265lbs here. Not a problem with the seat all the way back and slightly reclined. Like someone mentioned above, more room than in my Neon as far as leg room goes. I'm thinking I may by a different steering wheel with the flat spot on the bottom to help stop bumping it with my legs during spirited driving
