1st gen specs?

Hi i just bought a 1st gen 1978 rx7 .

I was doing a google search for performance specs on the car when i stumbled upon this forum so i thought id post this question right here.

I stumbled uppon this car while in a search for parts for my 1989 celica. I saw this beauty sitting there and asked the owner howmuch he wanted for it. his answer was 100$. So after inspecting the car i found out that the only problems with the car were a busted oil cooling radiator and a stuck transmissionplate that was jammig the coupling.

Being a fan of jap classics i didnt hesitate to purchase this jem for the rediculous price of 100$. But seeying as i'm am not at all that enlightned about mazda's i really have no idea howmany diferent types of engines were made for this model so id like to know what types of engine were made for this car and a few specifications like a hp count and topspeed rating.

Things i'm planning for this car..

-new paint job
-cleaning up the interior
-fixing the engine (and maybe give it a better rpmtop)
-keep it in its original stock state forever and ever

I wish i could give you a type of engine of the car but i cant because i just gave the engine a quick look for damage and didnt really keep an eye open for any type tags and the owner of it wasnt much help either since he was completely convinced that this car was equiped with an inline 5 cilinder engine (however the hell did he get that idea??! ). I didnt really feel like correcting him because i didnt wanna drive the price up ya know..hehe.

So anyways. If anyone out there has the specs for this model please let me know so i can have a better understanding of what i just bought.

Thx in advance!

Cool thx guys . Meanwhile i found out that the car is only 1200cc and with 100 hp. Sounds more than fair to me! I cant wait to drive this car. This is my very first rotary powered car ever and already i'm getting the feeling i'm going to love it.

I love high rpm's and with inline engines this is always a problem. But i feel that this car will give me loads of rpm without it being potentially harmfull for the engine. Another thing i love about this engine is that its an engine of wich i have good knowledge of. I'm not very good with electronics and even in my 89 celica the amount of electronics make for a very confusing engine and dificul tune-ups (for me) but with this 24 year old engine none of that will be a problem. Long live the good ol' carb engines and long live rotary id say
