Question 1st gen rear lid mod

Has anyone ever seen a replacement for the rear window that had a small vertical window and low section behind it - sorta like the old Porsche 904, or the 1st gen Toyota MR2? I saw something like that on a Camaro once; looked horrible - but the concept is cool, and imagine the weight savings!

Quote from Mariah Motorsports website:
This precision molded rear hatch is beautifully sculpted to continue the RX-7s flowing roofline down the rear deck. It resolves the RX-7s greatest design comprimise, the original rear glass and quarter windows.
Design compromise? WTF? That hatch has to be the worst body mod I've ever seen done to an Rx-7 and they have the nerve to call the stock hatch a design compromise.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, and there is no accounting for taste.

I think it looks pretty cool. However, while I've had my car on the road recently, I've really noticed how much visibility you get through the normal hatch. I would hate to lose that.

Bye,

Yes, it IS Ugly. I've thought about that using that hatch to make a True Targa top, kinda like an old Mid-Engined Ferrari or something.

But then I woke up and slapped myself.
