1st gen owners: carbon fiber and fiberglass exterior modifications(read more)

Hey guys, I just spoke to a very reputable frp/carbon fiber body kit company and they're interested in making stuff for older import cars including AE86's, maybe S30's(240z), and now 1st gen RX-7's.

We need 10 buyers ready for anything from carbon fiber or fiberglass hoods, hatches, fender flares, bumpers, side skirts, or rear bumpers.

Any ideas for what you would like to see produced will be sent to the company if there's enough demand for it.

Anybody want more information or if interested, please e-mail me at PLee1500@yahoo.com

10 buyers means production for 1st gen exterior modifications. Let me know if you guys have ANY questions or suggestions on what you would like to see made for your cars.

i say make a better front bumper option and some good fender flares, like the ones on the infamous renesis powered 1st gen in japan. get some people to make some designs for the front bumper and get one the majority likes and run with it

CF bumpers that mount to the existing shocks would be great, front & rear. I would agree that someone, I will try to do a sketch if anyone is interested also I know Manntis has some too, needs to do something better with both bumpers.

Wow Peter how've you been, it's been awhile since the old days of Club4AG. It'd be really great to have a major supplier in the US if this works out. My suggestion is a one-piece full front bumper replacement like this:

ya, totally sucks all the good CF stuff is made in australia. the shipping would cost would be out the ***, and after going overseas the possibility of damage is fairly high

That you Matt? Haha I've been good. I got a first gen a while ago. Very clean but I've been dying for some nice stuff. Spread the word, we have a supplier very interested in these cars but we need to meet their demand. Ten people. *rolling my eyes right now*

Yeah I forgot to delete the hatch part. I also sent the same post to my friend for his 240z friends.

Anyway, I'm still trying to get more ideas to submit to them so they can go ahead and start making molds and see what they think would sell.

So far, I have a majority on ZG style flares in carbon fiber and here's an example of what they look like on a 240z. They are basically one piece and usually rivited on the fender.

RE Matsuda's example was the bumper I've been looking for. More pictures and close up's would be perfect but I'm going to see if they can work with what I give them.

As for the hood, I decided that a carbon fiber oem copy would be best for production costs as well as a general appeal to you guys. Don't really want to deal with different types of vents and their location.

I didn't get any requests for a rear bumper, but I felt that if it was just 2-3" shorter, it would look decent and flatten out the rear. Fiberglass copies would probably be best here.

As for side skirts, I'm totally lost. Help me help you guys.

Oh yeah and another thing, the company needs to know if they can sell atleast 10 items as soon as any of the production pieces are available.

Fastest and easiest way for me to do this is to just e-mail me at PLee1500@yahoo.com and request what you want. It's that simple. Request anything you want made for first gen's.

**sorry for the double post, slow computer**

Damn I wish I had money to trow in like that right now. However in the near future I might be able to. As long as I have a first gen and there is company making parts for it. I will then have catch to make a monster but for now I guess I will just have to learn my stock FB real good before I can jump into big modifications.

How about kick panels with a convex mounting for larger front speakers (either 5 1/4" or 6 1/2"). I can't take measurements right now since my car is in the shop but I was thinking if the speaker mount was moved an inch or so away from the existing speaker mount it would give the extra mounting depth required for a larger speaker without modification to the sheet metal. Speaker mounting could maybe be angled towards the passanger too.

Tell you what, I'll draw up a couple ideas I've had, scan them and throw them up here. Let the other guys be the judges.

Wow you guys are sitting on a gold mine, if you could find some kind of advertisement probably about 45-50% of 1st gen owners in america will be all over it. And once you do that you'll have Supra MkII owners and Datsun early Nissan owners will want a product, Man if I were you guys I would start advertising on all the Rx7 forums and any Rx7 related site, I bet Victoria British would even sell that. Get the word out people!

I would only be in for flares if they are identical to Rotor vs. Pistons sig.

agreed. but i dont know if id rather have CF or just fiberglass. of course CF would be better, but ive never worked with CF and im afaid of how fragile it might be.

if you can get those flares along with some good designs for both bumpers, im in. but the bumpers will definately have to be fiberglass, or better yet try something like the new durflex extremedimensions is using. heres a link:
