1st gen doesnt like rain.

Ok. I have a 1985 1st gen with 90k. Just replaced the clutch master and slave cylinders on it about 4 months ago but other than that, I have had no issues with the car driving and have put on about 5k last year. I am in New Orleans where we get a ton of rain and this issue is on its second occurance.

It rained really hard, where there was some shallow street flooding. Anyhow, I made it through all of it and parked my car. Next day, I went out and the car didnt turn over. I let it be for two days and tried it again. First try was nothing. Not turning over or anything. Second try, I pulled the choke all the way out and it fired right up.

I drove it for about two weeks and no issues.

Then yesterday, we had a similar downpour and the exact same thing happened with the car. Wont turn over.

Anyone have any ideas. Its not a power issue, BTW.

On a second note, if anyone knows of a good suspension system(link) to purchase and replace the stock system, let me know. The roads down here are killer on suspension.

Thanks all.

Check cap, rotor, spark plugs, ignition wires. Your car might have also flooded. My car did that after a rainstorm in Colorado. A flooded engine will crank over and over before it clears that extra fuel out of its throat.

At least you have the right engine for this board. A lot of members here have 12As, while mine has a 13B (EFI) so they should be able to point you in the right direction. Since these carbureted models have more problems.

As far as suspension, check out the main page and look at the top for Vendors. ReSpeed and Racing Beat should have what you're looking for. Also check out www.performancecenter.com to see about 3 different kits.

Well, he says it won't turn over. As long as he is using the term correctly, then that means that the starter is not even rotating the engine. If that is indeed the case, then I would say to start with the wiring connections at the starter. Clean them up, replace them if needed, maybe even give them a good coating of undercoating (rubberized) to help keep them dry.

If the motor turns over, but does not start, then yeah look into the cap/rotor. Good luck.

Oh yeah, I forgot. By far, the best place to deal with for suspension or just about anything else will be www.re-speed.com

Billy spends a lot of time on this forum, listening to what we need and responding accordingly. Prices are very nice as well. And nobody will beat them on customer service.
