1st Gen 12a bridge port
1st Gen 12a bridge port
Soon I will be picking up a 1st Gen rx7 and had a few questions about bridge porting them.
I plan on getting an 79-84 model and putting a webber 48ida or racingbeat carb.
I was wondering if the stock ECU can be used to run a bridgeport? and if it can, does it need to have a fuel cut controller on it because of the higher than stock redline?
Im very new to the 1st Gen Rx7 and more familar with the FC's so this is new to me...
thanks

welcome to the world of old school, where simplicity reigns
. the "ecu" in stock carbureted first gens only controled emissions. if your using any carburetor, there is no need for an ecu b/c there is nothing to electronically control, fuel metering is mechanicaly based on air flow, the carb does it all by itself. you will just have to buy a carb thats sized apropriately to you motor's caracteristics... and tune it...oh and BTW carb'd first gens have no rev limiter, they'll just keep going, and going

Welcome to the dark side! I'm planning on picking up a Weber 48 IDA for my 12a that a friend and local Rx-3 owner will be bridgeporting for me. Can't wait....I got a hell of a shopping list together.
