1985 Warning Lights/ Buzzer lack-there-of

Hey! As I'm going through this '85 GSL project, I'm noticing a few things that aren't working. Totally stumped. I've checked the fuses multiple times over, bulbs are good, etc.

I'm getting NO buzzer for key on. That annoying one that just drones. I like the sound of it as it's soooo cheezy, I just have to have it so that all the features of the car are working. Now, if I unplug the coolant level sensor, my ADD-COOLANT light comes on, however the buzzer is still MIA. I've replaced the oscillator up front with another one as that was a common error I've been seeing while searching. No effect.

As for the warning lights, with the key "ON", only a few light up. They're: washer, belts, and brake. Now, when I began working on this car (manual swap, fixing little issues such as this) ALL the lights displayed. I can't figure out what I did/what went wrong to make only the select few display though.

Anyways, hoping someone's encountered this before!

Thanks

Weird, ALL the lights were on when key on this morning, back to the 3 throughout the day, and this evening it was all of them again! It's got to be a poor connection somewhere.

I removed all the add-on car alarm & wiring today, and also got the dome/map lights back in action which was all faulty from corroded contacts. So it must be carrying on w/ the lights & buzzer.

In the FC- the key on chime wouldn't work when the CPU board needed resoldering. Any idea if this same problem persists in the S3s?

I had similar issues with my 85/FB GSL.

Was having some weird behavior related to gauges/lights/etc. so pulled the cluster; the circuit board itself was severely corroded, affecting electrical connectivity to various circuit elements.

My solution was to replace the circuit board (via cluster purchased on ebay); *everything* improved--bulbs were brighter, gauges responded better, etc.

Since the buzzer is also physically located on this board, it might be worth investigating the general status of your cluster connections for possible surprises.

Disconnect the 2-wire pigtail behind the alternator and start the car, and observe

Alright, want to update this thread/ reply to who's helped.

I got the "key on" buzzer working again, the annoying one to let you know the key is on, or, the door's open while the key is on. There's a switch on the ignition cylinder, which completes a circuit once the key is in ACC or greater. The wires solder to thin copper reed strips, and the solder bond had failed. A disassemble, resolder, & reassemble & I was on my way. Switch is on the front side of the lock cyl, facing the fire wall.

Oddly enough, I have not had the "not all warning lights displayed" issue since this thread. This had to've been due to the fact I had the car some what apart for the manual swap, I'd have to think.

What I HAVE had, was the "brake" light stick on after a start. Brake fluid level topped off, switch there connected, and ebrake down. I have to think that's dirt/corrosion on the switch on the ebrake handle, but I'm not sure yet. Haven't investegated further.

I'm also not getting the "lights on, key out" reminder chime. Any ideas??

Wacky (can I call you this still???)- I didn't pull the alt plug but I get what you're getting at . I'd loose all of my warning lights, no? Something to that effect. I know the alternator is included in that circuit, so that when it fails, all the lights turn on. So really it would either make me loose ALL lights, or, have all come on. But I'm not sure offhand, depends how it's wired I suppose.

Thank you guys!

Getting there. haha.
