car wont start without the choke. has been sitting for a long time. when i release the choke the cars just dies. I push the accelerator when the car is off, it wont pump gas. what should I do. please help.

 

considering that the choke changes you air/fuel mixture, your problem could be a bad fuel to air ratio, first you would want to check the easy stuff like your fuel filter, and if the car starts for a second, then dies, then your fuel pump (mechanical) or fuel lines may need to be replaced, im sure someone on the forum has had this problem before, but not me

 

I would fix your accelerator pump first. You probably aren't getting enough fuel to start the engine. Choke richens the fuel mixture so thats why it will start with the choke on.
