1984 Flooding

Hi All, I did go through the FAQ but am not finding the issue mentioned, lots of talk of flooding but not as I am having. Just sitting there with the key on the carb floods profusely just dumping hug amounts of fuel into the intake. If I unhook the air valve under the fuel inlet it will stop. This is actually my sons car with 65000 original miles. He has owned for 4 years, it is bone stock and never been apart or rebuilt. It all started today while he was driving. He described it as running fine then all of a sudden started bogging out and died

It will flood through the carb nozzles as well as up next to where the fuel line hooks to the air horn of the car.

Does anyone have any experience or can you recommend someone who has experience with this carb? thanks

Could be the floats sticking. Try gently tapping the side of the carb with something other then a hammer.

What is weird though is it is not flooding while the pump is running as long as the airvalve is not plugged in. I would think that the floats and seats are working then? I don't have a cut away pic to tell how the carb circuit works though.

Are the float circuits tied together inside of the carb? Well actually I assume they are since they have one vent. never mind..
