been looking for a while and getting fed up. Does anyone know (or could tell me) what to search under. working on 1984 tII swap. can i use a US spec N/A engine harness and just get a computer for the turbo or do i need to get a TII engine harness?
The right side harness (the big one) can be an N/A unit but you might have to make a few alterations on the engine side of it,to get everything to fit.The N/A engines have a different intake manifold so many of the sensors and the injectors are in different places.It can and has been made to work though.Youll have to string an extra wire in there for the knock sensor,but the rest of the stuff is OK.
Make sure you use a harness and ECU that are proper for your engine if your going S4 (86-88).There was a change in mid 87 to the injectors impedence and you cant mix it up or youll blow the ECU. All S5 engines (89-92) are the same.
The custom left side harness is the same for either TII or N/A engines since it just runs the coils,CAS(S4 only),ECU power and the fuel pump system.

88 would be S4,but its possible that there were S5's around in 88 since its a Japanese engine and they got stuff before we did.

There could be some money made in making a "Swap Harness or Adapter" for FB's. If we could get all the wiring figured out to the letter. to make it "plug and play" to use a factory TII ECU(At least an S4) - I have a local Haltech/EFI distributor that could make mass make them. He makes all kinds of cool stuff. Or even better, perhaps RESPEED?
I am not sure if it would be easier to just use the FB engine harness, or the TII engine harness, with an adapter plug to connect to the FB's chassis harness.
Once the Jig is made, replicating them is easy.

i have located an 87 na enigne harness for my car but don't know where to find a turbo computer. where is this guy your talking about for the haltech stuff. if you want any hep with the wireing diagram i'll keep records of what i do with the harness.

Having done several TII swaps,there really isnt any need to dig into the FB wiring when doing an FC engine swap.
The big right side harness is totally plug and play between the engine and ECU,and that harness accounts for about 80% of all the wiring.2 large black wires from this harness must pass over to the FC main relay,but that can be integrated into the custom made left side harness.
The left side harness after its made,will plug directly into the ECU and run to the various FC components that your going to bolt to the left side of the engine bay(coils,fuel pump relay,main ECU relay,FC fuse block and CAS(S4 only).Then its just a matter of plugging in the little custom harness from those items to the last ECU plug.
All the 1st gen wires for the gauges and idiot lights can be left alone since they are in the same place on the FC engine.The only wires that must connect to the car from the FC wiring will be.......
1.Power "on" wire from the ignition to the ECU main relay.Can be tapped from nearly anywhere.
2.Battery "full time" power for the ECU memory.Only used on the S5 and it can also be tapped from anywhere.
If I were to connect these 2 wires to a battery,I could run my engine on a stand.I make it a point when anyone asks about TII swaps,that there is no need at all to dig into the 1st gen wiring whatsoever.

but can the tII swap into a fb work with a non-turbo wiring harness? are the non-turbo computers in the s4 capable of handling the turbo by themselves/or with a turbo controller? or do i need to get a TII harness?
Yes an N/A harness can be used with a TII engine and TII ECU.Youll have to add a wire for the knock sensor since the N/A's dont have one.And,youll have to probably make some alterations to a few plugs so that everything reaches, since the N/A has a different intake manifold which places many of the sensors and injectors in different places than on the TII engine.
The N/A ECU will RUN the TII engine,but its not calibrated for the increased air and fuel that the TII engine uses,so its not wise to DRIVE and/or BOOST the car with an N/A ECU.
Within the S4 years,all the ECU pinouts are the same and 99% of the wiring is identical regardless of the type of engine.Except for the style of the intake manifold and the fuel/air calibrations of the EFI,they are essencially the same engine on the outside.
Same goes for the N/A and TII S5 engines.They are nearly identical in all respects from 89-92,except for the intake design and EFI calibrations(injector size and airflow amounts)

Thats a good idea, I would buy one!
Its not because I couldnt do it, its the fact that you dont have to worry about it, its one less hassle out of the way.
