1983 Rx7

Hi everyone. I am in the process of buying a 1983 RX7 with 56000 miles on it. It has been parked for 8 years and the body is in great shape. My question is other than the usual battery, oil, gas, belts, hoses, tran tune up etc. What have been the inherent problems with this year and is there a fix for these problems? Any help will be appreciated.

Wrong forum. You need to be in the 1st gen section.

Welcome to the forum. You might want to flush the engine. Do a search for ATF, MMO, power foam,or Water treatment. Their seems to be quite a bit of contravesy on which is best.

He didn't say that the engine was seized. If it's starting or even turning over, you don't need to add any of those things.

RJNOLAN53, you've liseted everything there that you should do. Maybe a set of new tires.

Flush and replace the differential and transmission fluids. I once had an FB sit for 4 years and it got a little water condensation in the transmission which in a few weeks ruined the bearings. replace with RedLine or Amsoil or something similar, which works better than ordinary gear oil: smoother shifts, less missed shifts, better wear. You'll be glad you did it.
