1983 Rx-7

How much would a 1983 RX-7 be worth it has 150000 miles and doesnt run. But the motor has good compression. Its been primered red. And the interior needs work. The latches for the sunroof and rear hatch are gone. How much is it worth found one and i cant think of what to offer. Thanks ahead of time. Darin

Depends. If you're buying it from someone in the know, someone who thinks they know, or someone who thinks its just a car. If its the first one be nice, they're probably reading this right now . If its the other two then be a hardass and do the following.

Don't let on that you have good resources to fix it (your friends at the Rx7Club), the seller will raise the price. Act like you want it, but are too dumb to make an offer. The seller is the one who wants/needs the cash more than you want/need a non-running car. Let him throw out a number first because the first person to do that in negotiations has a weaker stance.

Once you do that $500 is your absolute maxiumum. I'd go for about $150-200 myself. Remember you are doing him a favor to take a non running car off his hands for more than the price of salvage.

Finally don't be afraid to walk away. There are 2 - 3 cars a week in similar condition that come up for sale.
