1979 muffler vs. 1984 muffler.

Okay so I am all about the backyard mod if the motor is not done up fast style yet.
So I have this 79 muffler, as you all may or may not know, these have the dual pipe on the entrance side. Do you all know what I mean, the flange side has 2 pipes like a road race header does, and the 85 is a single pipe. I am not talking about the muffler tips incase anyone is lost.
So I have a set of Racing beat Road race headers for a true dual exhaust but my motor is still stock, no port job yet. I was wondering if I should use the regular headers, the sinngle collector style with my stock 1984 exhaust, oh yeah my car is an 84 by the way, or could i get more flow out of the 79 muffler with the road race style headers and dual pipes all the way to the back into the 79 muffler.
Give me some feedback.
I am not ready to go bridgeport just yet but I need to do something to my darn car, I'm getting bored, LoL....

or you could do the best thing ever and use the roadrace header and have then collect right befor the axel, go over the axel, and out through a good high flow muffler. Thats going to be the best power producing for any set-up.

Yeah I know btu I just want to play with the crap I have lying around, I don't want to put money into any parts until I'm ready to do a bridgeport

well then I'd say go with the 2 tube 79 muffler and run dual pipes all the way back so when you decide to bridge it all you have to do is change the muffler and collect it before the axle.
