Question 14" tires

my '84 GSL-SE is desperately needing some new tires. I am wondering if I would have any problems with 215/60s. The tire guide I checked at the Amoco I used to work at listed these as optional for the 205/60s as far as height, but I want to be sure that they won't rub, etc.
Sadly, I'm not sure just how long my 7 is going to last once I get it back on the road, so I'm trying to get tires that will work on it OR my 280Z and 215/60 is the only size the tire guide listed as a substitute for both 205/60s and the 195/70s the Z calls for.
any help is appreciated!

I'd suggest just getting 205's. 215's might rub on your Z.

What's a matter with your 7?

Now that I've taken a close look, those 205s run really close to the springs as it is on the Rx7...
I've heard of people using 215s on 280Zs without a problem, but I'm still looking into it. If anyone has put 215/60s on a 7, I'd like to hear the results (this IS on stock SE wheels, btw). I'll keep nosing around zcar.com and see what I can find about putting them on the Datsun.

As far as what's wrong with my 7, basically parts cost too much . I'm about to swap steering gearboxes in it since my old one is COMPLETELY shot (sector shaft is broken) and I'm fighting some starter problems (in another post). Once I get some tires, I'm going to drive it until something breaks, as I'm sure something will. The car has 170K+ on it and while I was told the engine had been "rebuilt" and basically runs ok, my 12A seemed to have more power. The car needs painted, needs new shocks/struts, exhaust is about to fall apart (is there a CHEAP way to fix exhaust on these things?), trans doesn't seem to synch right, and I'm running on a used driveshaft so who knows how long the U-joints will last this round. As much as I love 7s, Datsuns are simply cheaper to work on (usually). But since my Z needs some work too, I thought I'd resurrect the 7 and see how it does

Man... It's not time to waste the 7 or sell it. It's time to build a racing machine!

Yup I found a set of 15" riken(sp?) mesh aftermarket rims at the junkyard on an old MX-6 GT and am going to put them on my SE.
