I have been getting my project plans going and i got a couple of questions:

For a ecu I have decided on a haltech e6k or X and when i was looking at the wiring diagram it shows wiring to a "pre- fuel pump" then to the "main fuel pump". now do i have to use a pre-fuel pump, like say i should get a SE in-tank setup using some sort of pump there with a external fuel pump on the outside or just use the stock gsl in-tank set up and use a external fuel pump of the outside?

Second I am going to be using the stock S5 turbo and i was wondering how to hook up the oil return? to a gsl-se front cover?

Sounds like they are reffering to the surgetank fuel setup.

I really dont wanna start another war about what is better,I just never understood why anyone would wanna plumb and wire 2 seperate fuel pumps and have all that mess exposed and vunerable under the car.

A simple GSL-SE fuel tank and external EFI fuel pump will work fine.

Or do like 99% of the cars on the road and convert any 1st gen tank to an intank EFI fuel pump like I did.Its not hard or expensive, just use an FC intank pump carrier.Youll have any choice of upgrade pumps to choose from(I use a SupraTT),itll be simple, quiet, protected and pretty much slosh proof. The surge tank setup provides some of these benefits, but is more complicated and noisy.

Oil return is simple with a GSL-SE front cover, there is a perfect little round boss under the OMP to drill and tap into. This is presumably the stock drain point for the 12AT factory turbo engine, which came out before the GSL-SE 13B. Plus the S4 TII's drain to the same spot despite the covers/mounts being different.
Even without the SE cover, there are a couple points on a 12A cover you can go.When I switched to S5 controls and the big electric OMP blocked the old spot off,I just ran the drain to the front corner of the cover where I drilled and tapped a new hole.

To add to Steve's accurate comments, - stay away from the e6X. It has many glitches, bugs, and little support. Go with an E6K, or better yet, an E8.

Just make sure you use whatever ECU your local tuner is familiar with.

I agree with the in-tank location. Mine is in the stock location, but it's loud. If I had to do it again, I'd put it in the tank. (Bosch -044 "Motorsport" pump) On the plus side, it is easy to get to, and there is never any doubt as to whether the pump is running or not.
