13b TII S5

I've been saving up to buy some 13b TII S5 engines (2 hopefully working ones) to tear down and build a street ported motor from to swap into my 1985 FB that I use as a track car.

I was curious about the price difference between the ebay ones and some local pick-ups. I live in Louisiana so finding an RX-7 in a junkyard, much less an FC with an S5 in it is going to be near impossible, but I was considering reaching out to local states and making a trip if it was worth it.

Most of the motors I see on ebay that have good compression range from $1,500 to $2,500. This seems high to me, but maybe not. What are some prices you guys have paid for local pickups on working S5's in good condition?

If you look hard enough locally you might score big. Just last night I picked up a 91 S5 TII with tranny and ECU that was a JDM pull for $800 locally. Came with some other 13b goodies like a ported/polished intake too. I was lucky, there are not too many rotary heads in NM otherwise I don't think I would have been able to get such a good deal. I plan to swap it into my 85 GSL-SE
