I had a deal on a 13B-RE for my carb'd first-gen, but being a college student, I decided it better served my car to sell the motor and use the money to fix up the rest of the car.

The point I'm trying to make is it's not cheap. You're going to need a complete motor/EMS system, as well as a complete fuel system. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you need the entire fuel tank from a GSL-SE for the high-pressure in-tank pump assembly (even if you're upgrading the pump). Unless you've already got some of the stuff he has listed, you need all the powertrain stuff he has for sale. This is assuming, naturally, you've got a carb'd setup. If you've got an -SE, things change, but not a whole lot. To mount it in the car, you're going to need a 12A front cover, S4 TII rear tailshaft housing, and a GSL-SE oil pan (I think).

Hope that helps you look in the right direction. Good luck.

It will cost a lot more than you think. Standalone and fuel systems will run over $2K new, but I guess he is including some of that. Expect the motor needs to be rebuilt - another few grand. I would budget at least $8K for the full swap and be willing to go to $10K if any problems surface during the rebuild. Thats what it would cost to get it done right.

As stated - you will need to add the SE front cover (or 12A) SE oil pan and pickup tube (will need to have some holes re-drilled to match up with the FD plates)- Turbo transmission (you are just stupid not to) - fuel setup - standalone - doubt the intercooler will fit - gotta re-plumb all that - relocate the battery - throttle cable....the list goes on.

Its not as easy as one would think, but it is doeable. There is plenty of information on the forum outlining what needs to be done. Oh, lets not forget a grand for someone to tune it all for you.....It adds up quicker than you think.

Good luck - I'm currently saving for a similar swap!

If you are set on a 13b then I'd advise going with a TII S5, it's a well trodden path so loads of support and previous build documentation to read through. As said before the REW is doable and has been done by a few on here but isn't for the faint hearted. I'm doing a TII swap at the moment and so far has proven to be fairly straightforward even though we haven't the luxury of GSL-SE oilpans on tap over this side of the water!

I swapped an 13BRE in my FC and I'm into it about $8k and still need little things so I'd assume you'd need a little bit more to get it into an FB. If you have or want to spend $10k or so, go for it. But if building something on a budget, a 13BT might be a better path. Lots of little things in the cosmo that you need that nickle and dime you to death.

Didn't DirectFreak do a RE swap using a blowthrough setup? Might be something to look into.

Yep. Before I ran the Haltech, I ran a blow-through for about 2 years.
It was still very nice, and quite quick. It had no where near the throttle response of the Haltech though.

I did it with a Holley Carb, a 'Jay-Tech' style intake, and a Mallory 4309 FPR. Everything else was pretty much the same as the Haltech.

I have an -RE in my car. As was stated earlier, it isn't cheap. Do a search. This comes up every once in a while.
