13B opinions!!!

hey
just wondering what some of your personal experiences have been like putting in a 13BT motor into your 7, who'd you go with? did you like it? mech. difficulties? anyother problems? etc etc. Im considering whether or not to do it, havent decided. 12A has got to go.
yes, ive searched the threads so please try not to school me like we are in the school playground. i know the facts, i just want to hear some opinions from you guys.
appreciate it.
btw: bought my first 1st gen rx7 yesterday. although its one of themost underpowered car ive owned, its still one of the most fun. :]

rebuild your 12a with a street port and 13b housings/rotors = 4 port.

First time around......stock S4 13BT.
Fun,fast, only about 1500 bucks to get it all running.Did it all myself, kept it smog legal, but still pushed her to the mechanical limits of the stock ECU and stock S5 turbo, about 250-260hp.Short lived.......lost a water seal after about 6 months.Doing it cheap will net you grief and more expenditures usually. Not that I really did anything wrong, but wrecking yard engines are wrecking yard engines, and I tried to have fun without spending money.

Second time around.....Built,S5 13BT.
The world of experience and credit allowed me to do the swap the way it should have been done the first time.$4500 for a Mazdatrix built S5 streetport engine,$700 for a Turbonetics TO4B hybrid,FMIC,3" exhaust, ect, ect, ect.Again,I did the wiring/conversion myself, but left the aforementioned expensive, important stuff to the pros.Kept it smog legal and again,Im pushing the limits of the stock ECU,although its S5 now and Im sitting comfortably around 300HP.Its reliable, fast and fun.....over 5 years and about 50K miles on the setup, and it runs as good as it did the day I first fired it up.You just have to exercise restraint, because turbo engines are addictive, easy to pump up,and easy to blow if you get greedy.

no thanks for carbs.
i actually dislike carburaters very much.
ill probably go 13BT myself. i like the idea of turbo, yes. i like my turbo cars. always will. they take a alot of servicing if you'd like them to run right. but i think its worth it. i am having a hard time finding a full complete swap for under $2,000. but ill keep my eyes on the lookout. and big ol' v8, is and will never be an option. thanks you two for responding.
