13b not run since 1991
Hey guys, I have an 84 GSL-SE and the engine has 183000km on it. It does burn a bit of coolant, but runs good otherwise. I also have 2 other 13Bs from GSL-SEs, one has 288000km on it and is pretty much finished, but the other was in a major crash dating back to 1991. It has 46000km on it. Right now it's seized, possibly because the front cover of the engine is damaged (I can take the one off the other engine). Is it possible to simply put ATF or MMO in there and get it going or do I ABSOLUTELY have to rebuild. Budget is limited, but I can swap engines myself and have the tools/equipment. Just don't have the confidence to rebuild it myself. What else should I check on an engine that's been sitting for so long?
Same question for the tranny, how long can a tranny sit without needing a rebuild?

Siezed motor...pull it apart. It will be easier that way. You will know what is wrong instead of guessing. Hopefully after all the work there will be some usable parts left.
As for the other motor...Burning coolant can be as simple as a bad intake manifold oring if you are lucky. Easy to replace. Otherwise motor needs a rebuild.

Just swap the front cover and see. If it runs it runs. If it doesn't run then there is some serious buildup or warping/binding on the inside. Try and start it up in the wrecked car before you transplant it and waste time.
A transmission can sit for quite awhile actually. It's all metal parts so nothing really dries out. Just flush out the fluid with good fresh fluid. I run 50/50 MT-90 / ATF mixture.

Can't try to start it because it's been out of the car since 1991, I have all the parts from the car but it was scrapped back in 1991. The parts came with the se I have which I bought 6 years ago. Anyway, I'll remove the front cover and see if anything is stuck in the oil pump chain or something, that cover is really smashed. Then some ATF in there and try to set it free. If that doesn't work maybe rebuild, but I'm not in hurry.
This may be off topic, but I did search for this and found no direct answer. My auxiliary ports have never worked since I have the car. I have no cats so I want to operate them with the air pump. Can someone explain to me exactly how to do it? pics would be even better. By the way the car is all stock, no mods except cats removed.
