13b into series 2 rx7

How's it going everyone
I'm new to this forum, I currently have a gemini which is for sale and I am picking up my series 2 rx7 today or tomorrow. I am just wondering, will a 13b go straight in or do you need different engine mounts, etc? Also, will 13b manifolds bolt up to a 12a block? I am trying to decide whether to go 13b bp, 13b turbo or 12a turbo. I don't have a real big budget tho.
Cheers,
Mat
PS. If anyone is interested in a gemini or know someone who is, email at delts69@hotmail.com for photos and details ($4500 ono)

to mount the engine you just need the modified mounting plate thing that racing beat and mazdatrix both sell. They went for like $70.

13B manifolds will NOT bolt up to a 12a block because of the 13b having wider rotor housings.

for the set up, if you want to put a 13b turbo, go for a tII motor. personally i would go 13b 4 port with a medium street port. a bridge port is very loud and very powerfull. it also doesn't last for very long.

yeah your in aussie, so emissions arent a problem for you right?

The only problem with going turbo, is your going to have to make your own manifold for it becuase the turbo charger interfiers with the steering linkage.

A 13B four port would be very nice. Dont six port unless you really want that little bit of low end power it makes over a four port.

If your going with a N/A four port, your going to have to get an aftermarket carb/manifold setup. Your gonna have to fork over some $$$ for that setup.

I think you can just slot the motor mounts but I know you'll need the front and rear counterweights. I don't remember for sure but I think you need to use the 12a front cover.

13bt

i would personaly go with the 13bt single turbo, i have had a couple friends with problems with the stock turbo's on the TII's...and i have had no problem with my old single turbo, as for 12a turbo, not worth it!!!!

13BT definately.

You can get a cast manifold from any rotor workshop to move the turbo up and forward to clear the steering box. Or, you can slot the engine bracket to move the motor slightly over to clear. This is how mine is.

12AT front cover preferebly or modify a 12A front cover for the oil return from the turbo.

I think an RX4 13B sump will work, if it's reversed.

If you go with an import motor, do most of the work yourself, and use a Microtech, you can get away with it reasonably cheap. Say $4-5000. Ring around the workshops, as most offer a DIY package with everything you need.

When I mounted my engine, slotting the motor mounts just didnt seem like it would be very relaible in the long term. Just get the RB mount, its better to be safe than sorry.

Which counterweights are you talking about? In any case, you need to use the counterweights designed for the motor.

If you decide to go the TII route, your are going to need a TII transmission as well. The shaft on the transmission is different on tII motors. Technically you could swap over a N/A transmission ( I think), but the N/A transmissions are very weak and will not hold up to the additional torque from the tII motor.

There is no such thing as a twin turbo 13bt (from mazda, of course)

That's true, but strictly speaking they're not a 13BT. They are a 13B-RE or 13B-REW.

We're picking at straws here though.
