ok i just got a 85 rx-7 the motor isn't in top condotion but it runs. i want to but an 86 or 87 13b in it but i don't know if the elictricall will plug up or will i have to run all new elictrical harness
so if any one can help me i'd be very great full.

its an 1985 glse-se and i want to puta new motor that can handle tthe stress of a turbo or twin turbo

 

Search for S4 engine swaps.

Whether you run N/A or TII engines,its the same amount of work to mount,feed and wire up the engine.Seeing as you have a GSL-SE for a receipient,the swap will be considerably easier,but there will still be a fair amount of wiring if you retain the stock 2nd gen EFI on the engine. A standalone ECU will make the wiring easier,but will require tuning and will never be smog legal.

If you plan on running a turbo,then get a TII engine.Theres little reason to mess with the 6 port N/A engines when the 4 port TII's are abundant and better suited to forced induction.All the work needed has been covered a million times over and is stored on this site.If you search,you can find all that you need.When the swap is underway,and you hit a snag or uncertainty,then you can hit us with specific questions.
