MN 13B build no start

Back under the hoods of my RXs again. Finally got out of apartments and into a place with a 2 car garage. Very nice to have my own space again.

Anyhow. Build is a 92 engine, Weber DCOE carb, into racing beat exhaust. No turbo of course. All the appropriate plates blocked off and so forth. This engine ran in this exact configuration in another body, although that body was totaled and this is transplanted into a 84 body.

No start for a few days, iron out a few kinks and get her to roar up on ether. Excited to see the build coming along I hook up pump to carb, get a nice 4.5 psi through the regulator from a carter 4070 pump. I have a pressure gauge on the other T reading steady.

Does not start, reverted to ether to no avail.

Iron out fuel issues, clean the carb out in every possible way with a full disassembly. Float inlet was jammed, buildup elsewhere as well.

Start again, no love. No start on ether still. Tested at WOT and closed throttle, and everywhere in between. Choke is currently closed, but should be a non issue. KISS until I get it running.

Take out all plugs, remove fuel and let her spin for a few minutes in case it was flooded. Obtain new plugs, spin engine with starter. Plugs remain impeccably clean. Oil the engine through spark ports, as psi was a bit low and I was worried about my seals. PSI is a nice happy 3 bumps at 90-95, tested after oiling on all 4 plugs.

Run engine. No start. Check plugs, they are obviously wet with gas.

The holy 4 part check list is pretty much complete. Spark (I have healthy spark on all plugs. Both before swap, and after), Compression, Gas, and the last bastard being timing. I have a timing light, but AFAIK it doesn't work right unless you actually get the engine to catch. The barrel has NOT been opened since the last time the engine ran, and the manual adjust on the distributor is centered. Vacuum advances are hooked up to the engine and mechanical advances are plugged in. Battery is reading a happy 12.5V. The grounds that I am aware of are plugged in as appropriate. One at each headlight, the starter, the alt and at the fusible links. The whole interior wiring harness is not plugged in except for the gauge cluster. AFAIK I don't need any of the ECUs intact for timing, but perhaps I should be slipping those in. With it starting on ether once I assumed they were unneeded for basic proof of life...

I HAVE to be missing something stupid. Anyone got a good idea for diagnostic?

Just for funsies and to be thorough I checked my distrib alignment again. Visually its good to the post here https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...ft-do-1119855/. Cant check at the flywheel, aftermarket alum, but the distrib looks right on at TDC.

This sounds like a total pain! Any luck on the progress so far?
