13b in a 1st gen

How difficult would it be to install a S4 13b into a first gen? Would the stock tranny bolt up? What other problems would I face by doing this? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Why put in a 13B when the 12A is the most dependable engine out there? 235K on original engine. Replaced 13B in 93 R-1 at 85K and at 135K needed another engine.

If you have to ask the #1 question of each week, you have either: a. Not been paying attention, b. Have not found the search button, c. Or both.

The S4 is probably the best choice due to lesser modifications needed. If you stay fi you will need to upgrade the pump, an SE fuel tank or surge tank and there are some wiring changes that need to be made.

The third gen powertrain is a whole different creature and shouldnt be compared to a 12A.

If you dont have to worry about emissions you can install a racing beat upper intake manifold and a weber side draft on that motor super easy. Also I would keep the 12a front cover. You dont need the SE oil pump unless you're going to use the FI.

This is a great swap. Dont hesitate.

The original post came from lowkee33 b/c i was using their computer, however i am new to the forum and am trying to soak up as much info as possible from all of the rotor guru's on the forum.

I dont have to worry about emissions. Also, how much torque will the original 12a tranny handle if i was to want to give the car some spunk?
