13" Tires on a budget

I'm looking to replace some Falken FK-06U 205/60R13s that are dryrotting. Does anyone know of some comparable tires that aren't too expensive? The grippier the better, but my emphasis is on economy.

I've been told that the Sumitomo HTR series are very good for the price. They range from $36 US to $41 per tire on Tirerack.com

I'll go ahead and recommend my tires just because you want something "grippy". I've got a set of Yokohama Aegis LS4 that have seen quite a bit of miles. However, they're holding up just great and MAN, do they get good traction! They're great in the snow, rain and on dry roads. They don't screech or squeel, but rather provide a nice smooth ride. They're only about $40 each in the stock size: 185/70. Hope that helps you out.

i used to run the FK06u's and then got a set of the ziex in the same size- both were good tires.

when i couldn't get them anymore in the right size (the local tires guys suck) i got a set of the sumitomos.- they make lotsa smoke real easy, good in the dry, not so great in the rain (here in dfw, we don't get rain actually, we get dumped on). my only problem with the sumitomos was that they just didn't last, but at $36 a tire, who really cares....

Tirerack is blowing out their Yokohama AVSi line of tires - I went so far as to buy a set for my daily driver, an '88 929 They're flat out awesome! They have 185/60VR13's for the princely sum of $36 per copy. 'V' rating gives them a nice, stiff sidewall and they have a treadwear rating of 160 so they're super sticky. Give 'em a whirl! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....S+Intermediate

Definitly Sumitomo HTR 4. They grip like none other and are cheap. But expect to replace every year.

The grippier(sp) the tire, hence softer rubber compound, the less mileage u get out of them. Ur better off keeping a worn set of good sticky tires to use just for autox and a decent mileage tire for every day driving.

Just my 2 cents.
