12a wont start help

MO 12a wont start help

hi my name is enrique i have a 85 gs 12a. i just rebuilt it using atkins pro kit, i forgot to mark the timing position on the e shaft pulley. ive tried all four positions it could go on but it wont start. on one of the positions i hear it pop a little but thats it. any help would be apreciated

Are you sure that you're lining up the timing marks on the distributor and using the roll pin as a timing mark? The timing is set off of the leading ignition.

Remove the inspection plate to the flywheel and turn it until the counter weight points towards the passenger side. That's should be a good start then align the distributor. See If that helps

well i put the first rotor (one closest to the front cover?)put in tdc according to my understanding and then i moved it just a little bit to aling the white mark on the pulley to the roll pin. then the distributor i ligned up the dot to the raised bump thing. i wass wondering a bout the little gear thee dizzy goes on, if i put that on backwards on acccident would that mess with timing

That does not matter. if you draw a picture of the gear and it's teeth, you will see that turning the gear 180 deg will still have the teeth acting in the same direction. From what you said it seems to be times correctly. You Post a video of you trying to turn it on. A picture is worth 1000 words and a video is worth a million.
