planning on going turbo 12a at 10 psi will the stock gs diff hold up I really dought it I was told that a 9 inch ford or 8,8 wil drive like crap in my car cause itll take to much torque to turn they selling me a lds gsl diff for 300 I waS thinking that that wont be too much of a diff other then the lsd I saw grannys have a 8,8 but they want 2200 that's way out the budget thanks I would buy a diff if anybody has one for a good price thanks happy holidays to all members

 

gsl 84 85 rear will do just fine ... strongest out of all 1st gens good up to 300hp as long you're not launching like crazy

 

 

Yep, big bearing GSL or GSL-SE rear end from an 84-85 S3 FB is your best bet. I had one with a 225hp TII motor that I romped on and it held up just fine.

We didn't get those here, I would love to see one someday! Curious if there's a difference between these and our LSD GSL/GSL-SE diff's.

If you look at Granny's Speed Shop, you can just buy the brackets for the Ford 8.8 rear end that you then would need to weld onto the axle yourself for $395.

I'm planning on getting a Ford Explorer 8.8" rear end for my FB here soon and using Granny's kit to put it in. I'm going to be running a big turbo 13b TII pushing around 400+hp somewhat conservatively. I know I'd destroy a GSL-SE rear end in the process, hence the need for an upgrade.
