Question 12A Turbo (High Compressor Rotors)

I was wondering since everyone say you need low compression rotors for turbo would a 12A N/A using high compression rotors with a low boots turbo work?

FB II, did you just adjust your timming for 16 Psi and leave it there? I am thinking about building up my 1974 4 port 13b with a good size streetport and then running about 10 psi.

i am doing the same thing, as you, using hight comp rotors, but make sure you read this first,

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...igh+output+12a

some of the things in there are unneccisary with the boost you are running, but tuning is everything, so maybe convet to efi, unless you have a good tunable carb system and a rising rate regulator.

LOL heck yes!!!! i'm just spreading the reality of it all. people aren't so scared to tackle such a project anymore... which is great. people don't have to be stuck with 130rwhp anymore and no need to bust open the motor to get 200rwhp

turbo is the win

michael: yes you lock the timing so it never advances past a certain degree. anything over 15 psi i leave it at 10 degrees. under that around 12 or so. each engine you can mess with it a little. here we use 93 pump gas so it helps i've hit over 20 psi with no problems at 10 degrees. i've seen people run 30 psi at that. and street drivability is still better than stock.

oh and just to get people motivated more... last night 84gsNC and I both whooped up on:

-b16 BPU delsol - pulled atleast 4 buslengths
-BPU accord - lost him in the rear view somewhere
-BPU rx8 - kinda made me sad that it was like racing the accord
-very nice new GTI with mods.. his turbo was insaaanely loud- left him in the dust and he crept back up giving me the big thumbs up
-the g35's and s2000's we saw wouldn't have any aahahahhahaha

-bpu = basic performance upgrades (in case anyone doesn't know)

going back out tonite, will try to get some video footage of the massacre

get it blown then you got boost spooling at idle no lag, the `12at idea should have been a factory must for all 12a cars! i also got told by a mech man to use rx5 stationary gears in the 12a???
