12a turbo guys, read please!
Hi,
Just wondering everyones experience with idler arm clearance. Mainly when using a 13bt manifold spaced out for clearence of the intake. How far can you go? It appears to me that at about 3" you may be getting close, however I read somewhere somebody was hitting the idler when only using two racing beat header flanges( approx 1"). So if i could just get yours guys input that would be great.
Thanks

Some of the guys are building thier turbo manis to push the turbo up and forward. If you don't go that route, then install a heat sheild to protect the idler arm. You can get **** and do a double layer shield with an insulating material in between if you so choose.
Make sure the shield does not interfer with the idler arm's range of movement and is built in such a manner that air can flow fron the front to back and that convection can draw air from the bottom, up and through the top. Be happy you have a left hand drive car. On the right hand ones it toasts the steering sector.
Another options is installing a heat blanket on the hotside of the turbo, or having the hotside ceramic coated, inside and out.
