12a Rebuild: Apex Seal Distortion
12a Rebuild continued....
Finally got everything cleaned and measured.
Measured apex seal distortion on all 3 combinations of pairs:
Front: at least .178mm
Rear: at least .152 on one pair, at least .178mm on other two pairs.
Limit is .06mm
Measured apex seal height: 7.9mm +- .1mm on all 6
Limit is 7mm
Should I replace the apex seals?
There is a big price difference between the Atkins brand and the Mazda OEM from Mazadtrix. May I assume with the age of my rotors and irons the Atkins (soft) are more preferred?
Jeff answered some of my other questions in this recent thread:

Thanks Jeff.

i forget if you said atkins or hays, but 10 years ago, they were known for using more spray paint than new parts...
