12A - No fuel from fuel pump

Engine not starting, so I check the fuel lines. No fuel to the carb when cranking the engine. Ran a 12 volt line directly to the fuel pump from the battery. Got fuel at the carb. The car started up and ran fine. Re-connected the wiring harness and there's not fuel to the carb again. So, I'm not getting 12v through the wiring harness to the fuel pump. I can see on the schematic that the fuel pump gets its positive through the fuel pump cut relay. That's the end of my knowledge. What is the function of the fuel pump cut relay? Ideas on what I should be checking next?

Thanks

The relay plug can be removed and a couple of the blades jumped. The relay is about $50 so most owners just jumper. It's part of a safety device.

KansasCityREPU, I just found a thread where you were discussing the blades in the connector to jump. I'll give that a try.
