12a Motor w/ Turbo II Tranny and Rear End?

My 12a tranny is starting to whine in 1st gear and I'm planning a turbo swap sometime in the near future so I thought why not ditch the 12a tranny and rear end for a Turbo II tranny and rear end. I was just wondering if the 12a motor could work properly with the gear ratios of a Turbo II.

The TII trans will work on the 12A,just need to change a few things to fit it all up.The gear ratios are slightly different, but not so much that its gonna be detrimental to driveability.

Good luck putting in an FC rearend.Thats been gone over and over and over......to death. Its a huge job to fabricate mountings and torque pickups for the FC IRS to go in the FB's solid axle chassis.

Easier to swap in a full 8.8" from a mustang than the TII rear. For the tII trans you will need to make some custom mounts, Racing beat n/a flywheel to TII trans clutch kit, and a custom driveshaft.

i believe the turbo II trans has a completely different bolt pattern and it is noticibly longer with way different mounts. spare yourself the effort and go with a gsl-se trans. it bolts right up and gives you a tad taller 5th gear. on the fc rear end setup, you'd have to have a full machine shop at your disposal. WAY different. you have a watts link setup with a solid rear axle on the fb and a fully independent dtts on the fc. two different beasts.

bolt pattern is the same from 74 up. TII trans is much stronger than the SE trans, I think it is a worthwhile upgrade, even with the custom fab work.

All rotaries (almost) have the same belhousing pattern. It bolts up fine.
The hangup is the flywheel/clutch.To make it work, youll need a correct 12A rear counterweight,a RB TII light flywheel, and a TII clutch and starter.I did this exact setup before going TII,trust me it works.
The TII shifter will need to be moved forward 1" or youll have to cut the tunnel and live with an off-center shifter. Its not too hard, just do a search for lots of info.
The 12A crossmember can be used with some simple spacers and a little grinding.
The driveline will have to be custom made, usually about 150-200 bucks.
