Unhappy 12A Idle too high

Hi Everyone.

I have an 82' GSL. I recently rebuilt the carburetor, (as it was so plugged up it was forcing gas into the oil.) I had hoped that by doing so all my problems would be solved, but now my little 7 is idling at 2000 rpm. It doesn't start out that way though, the revs kind of work their way up there from 1500. When the choke is fully closed, the revs sky-rocket to 5000 rpms. When it is released, they drop down to 1500, and then climb to 2000 as I mentioned above. What could be wrong? What is the normal Idle speed for a healthy 7? Please, any suggetions are welcome. Sorry, I'm an Idiot, I did not mean to put SE after GSL, my mind was elsewhere.
