12a engine, whats a good price ?
well I was looking for a set of seats for my pickup at the wreckers , I saw a 12a sitting off in a corner .... the owner told me to make an offer on it
he said it came out of a running 83 seven with rear-end damage ,it's got most stuff still on it , but I wouldnt say its a full longblock , also he didnt get an odometer reading off the car , so I dont know how many kms on it
does anyone know what a fair price to offer is?
I have a couple fc's and no practical use for it , aside taking it apart or maybe selling it

Terrified.
Maybe 50 bucks? I wouldn't offer very much at all if you don't know what kind of shape it is in other than "running shape". Especially with unpredictable mileage. For all you know that motor could be on its very last leg of life. Then again, it could have been a very low mileage car. Get a compression check on it if you are serious about it. Compression check turns out good, then work your way up. I would go real low to start though. And if you have no real use for it, I wouldn't bother much anyway.

That's not a bad price. I got burned on a junkyard motor last year that ran great but leaked like a sieve from the dowel pins. Now I'm stuck with my old '79 engine that smokes like a **** but doesn't leak and my '83 engine that runs and doesn't smoke but leaks prodigiously.
BAH!
Between the two of them I should have a good motor somewhere... Time to shell out for the rebuild parts, I s'pose.
