12A Clutch on a -SE 13B?

Hey guys,
I know there is a similar thread to this one posted below, but it didn't contain the answer I was looking for, nor did I want to hijack someone elses thread. So I made a new post...

I recently got my GSL-SE on the road and I've noticed that the clutch seems a bit weak. I have a complete 12A sitting on my garage floor with what appears to be a brand new clutch. Rather then buying a new clutch kit that will probably be replaced with a TII transmission at some point in the near future, can I just use the 12A clutch on my 13B?

Thanks guys/gals...

The 79-82 12a uses a 215mm clutch. 83-88 N/A uses a 225mm clutch, whether it's a 12a or 13b.
Therefore, if the 12a is an 83-85, the clutch is the same as the GSL-SE.

Yes the similar thread does answer this question because i answered it. the answer is that all
83-92 N/A rx7's use the same clutch. Which is a 225mm clutch. If it is 82 or earlier and has not been upgraded then it is a 215mm clutch.

Ok so how can I tell the year of the 12A? Is there a production date on it anywhere? I know that it doesn't have the bee-hive oil cooler, it has the front mounted instead. I suppose that's an indicator of what year it was produced... right?

Thanks guys!

Crap! That sucks.

I thought the later 12A cars had the front oil cooler.

Just measure the clutch, theres always the possibility that it was updated.

The disc will fit, you won't have as much contact surface area. Use the 225 mm pp.
