12A Bridgeport question
I have a 12A 1/2 bridgeported engine in my Fb with RB headers and RB power pulse muffler and one 2 1/2 inch straight pipe in between now my question is is this pipe too restrictive would it be better the get dual pipes?
Actually, the pipe size on the RB power pulse muffler is hurting as it is stock size. You would probably note a decent difference if you switched out to the RB dual outlet header with twin pipes back to an RB street port muffler
RB muffler is like a cork in a bottle when it comes to bridgeports.

Its a tit for tat situation. the RB will keep it quiet and sound well, but not give you the most HP. Bridges like to breathe. If you go EBay muffler, you will get more power, but you will be loud and sometimes rattly.
Yeah if noise is an issue, I'd switch to the streetport set up from RB(with or without presilencers). That's going to allow it to breathe better. Steve runs a streetport muffler behind his 300rwhp streetported Turbo II FB and it flows just fine while maintaing legal dB levels for California(95dB). If you want completely straight thru you will need 10 mufflers to do the same job keeping the noise down(sarcastic yes but there's no other muffler out there that caan match RB's flow for the noise output)
ooooo ok now I know what you guys mean...I was looking on the racing beat website and I was checking out the mufflers and I bought the regular power pulse instead of the streetport one that has two pipes instead of one do you guys think that if I take that information and a picture a muffler shop will fab my muffler up like that?
I don't think so. I think the internals of the streetport muffler are different than the standard muffler but I'm not sure. The SP muffler also collects into a 2.5" pipe then into the muffler
the collector on the RB rear muffler blows.
In 1999 I had a local muffler shop fab the pipes leading up to the rear muffler the same basic way as RB but improved the collector. Dual pipes that go up and over the axle then merge together into one 2.5" pipe. It was 21 bends and a real PITA for him to fab with the watts link in the way. Wasn't cheap either. I would also buy a collector from magnaflow since they're short, compact, and well designed, instead of having the muffler guy fab one up for you. I used an oval 4"x9" muffler that I think was 18" long and was straight thru. It droned and I had to lift whenever I saw a cop. For starters get one that is offset in/out. The slight bend in the muffler does help reduce noise and get the biggest main muffler that will fit in there.
Also bend the tailpipe downward, that helps reduce noise.
