12.9 stock year 84!

I just got back from my local track, my little GSL-SE just pulled off a 12.9 on its first run down the 1320!!
And its all factory, no aftermarket genuine 1984 parts!
Oh....and no cheaters like NOS or turbo. Its all motor, baby!.....wana know how?

p/s, did you know ford and Mazda started their colaberation in 1984?

He didn't say it was a stock GSL-SE, he said it was all factory parts. Probably an engine swap.

1320 is an 1/8 of a mile.... I believe it.... I ran 9.7 in the 8th on a stock ported 12a, but had mods(11# flywheel, bronze 6 puck clutch, webber 45doce, electric fan, underdrive pullies).... I never got to run on a real 1/4 mile track, broke a rear end the last time I went to the 1/8mile on stock rims with street tires and had no of getting home, so next time I go I will make sure when something does go in my favor and I have a way of getting it home.

To you I say congrads, good job...

My guess would also be with a 1984 V8 of some description. However, I doubt it was with a 1984 Ford 302 @12.9. I have an 83 GT and it's only rated at 175 HP. 175 HP in an RX-7 does not equal 12.9 in the 1320.

"cody" where did you get that body kit?
My car has a v8...but only 'cuz it was ''laying around'' while I rebuild my rotery. It was so easy to put in and hook up. My engine is a 351Windsor, it has been rebuilt back to stock specs, even the stock carb, excect for a set of ROSS pistons to take the compression from a sad 8.4 to 10.25....yes, I do bielieve that a stock 84 had 175hp in a 302.......12.9 sucks, also....you should see my 86 gxl with the 93 5.0 EFI....lets just say I ran 'er once, and to my surprice they met me at the stage, and said take it home and put a cage in it before I ran her again!

yeah, my friends 1982 5.0 GT only has 147HP! but it does have 250 torque, and that's what makes it quick
and bumping the compression up by 2 points isn't exactly stock

If you like 5.0's and you like mazdas, then why dont you build a bad *** 50 powered second gen??? 7s with blown engines are dime a dozen, and old *** bustah grandma cars with fuel injected 5.0s are about as readilly avail. I just got my gsl-se with a blown engine, and this truck engine all for less then 500 bucks! Its the fastest car in town, and my 16 yearold brother just got it from me for his b-day....screw the norm. do whats gona make you happy

If I had the axcess to a reputable rotary engine builder, I would have a bad *** Rotary, BUT I can spend more on shipping then on the rest of the car! I choos what I can get my hands on, and right now I have 2 VERY fast rx7's, and the average crapero, or buttstain at the stop light doesnt know what hit 'em!!!! He just knows he got ate up by some very fast japcrap!!!
ps......I still have calvin pissing on a piston on my side window!
