*Clunk Clunk Clunk*
*Clunk Clunk Clunk*
When i start my car up when its cold i hear a consistent clunk clunk clunk coming from the rear right when i turn left mostly. My instuctor told me my wheel bearing could be shot and its allowing some slop for the brake to grab off and on. Once the car is warm the prominent clunk clunk clunkgoes away. Anyone else had this problem?
It sounds like a reasonable diagnosis but bad bearins usually make a grinding noise as you make turns.. I'd check for any end-play in the shaft but most likely a few shims on the pads should quiet it down.
It goes away when the car is fully warmed up? Does it always go away completely or just sometimes? Is it coming from the wheel itself? My friend had a car that made a clunking noise that would go away when the motor was fully warmed up. Turns out his muffler was about to fall off. Your problem could be a number of things.
No this has nothing to do with the motor. It seems to actually be getting worse. I hear this mostly when i pull out of my neighborhood. I take a left and i get a consistent clunk clunk that comes from the rear right now when i straighten out it still clunks but when i speed up it goes away, when i slow down it comes back. (under 10MPH) Once i get out of my neighborhood i can't really hear the sound. Could my bearings be dry? It isn't a grinding noise either.
