*Blasted Dome Light!

Anyone have the issue where the dome light has shorted out due to trying to install a new bulb? This is the second 1st gen I have owned where the dome light light is out. My previous rx7 had both the dome light and swivel map light out when I got it as my understanding was the owner accidently shorted it. I experienced the same thing when I went to replace the bulb and saw sparks after the bulb end sections that hold it started sparking because they became loose. I noticed there are two wires coming into the dome light when I took it apart. One red and one yellow/blue if I remember correctly. Does anyone know where the wire leads too as I also saw that it links to the cigarette lighter and radio which are also now out. My solution is to run a new positive power wire from the battery with a built in fuse. I can t-tap the positive wires from the radio, cigarette lighter and dome light and then have them grounded to a new wire as well. BTW, I already checked my fuse box and all fuses are good after checking each individual one with a tester.

The spade connectors on the 2 wires powering the dome light are pretty exposed and it's easy for them to short out against the roof. I put electrical tape on mine.

Good suggestions, thank you. Any idea where these wires end up as far as a fuse or relay it goes to? Again, I checked the fuse box and all fuses were good so I am wondering if there is something I am missing.

I think when mine shorted the "CIGAR CLOCK" fuse was blown. My car is an '82 and the wiring may have changed for 84-85 cars.

Mine is a 1983 so should be the same. I will double check the fuse to make sure it's not that.
-Thanks

Yup, along with the mount for the light bulb being loose with age. Going to fish a new power wire from the battery to connect the accessories that are out. I wasn't able to find the short so rather than keep looking for it, I decided to run a new wire.
