BEST GEAR RATIO?
I LOVED MY 4.44's kinda kills high end though but i always had 5th at like 3600-4200. and i think it was around 80mph. So i guess if i was at higher rpms and was racing at like 80-90 i could still pull better?
What do you guys think is the best all around gear ratio.
What do you guys have?
Oh flywheel too...

higher gear ratio doesn't mean higher top speed... i changed my 4.079 GSL-SE ratio to a GSL 3.909... I'm still doing 40mph at 2500 at 4th gear... but acceleration is down... if you want higher top speed I think going smaller is to do it...
higher ratio = faster acceleration...lower top speed...
lower ratio = slower acceleration...higher top speed...
I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about... check out RACING BEAT's comments about ratios...

I had 4.44's on mine. I've actually read that 4.44's in a "stockish" 1st gen. will give you a higher top speed in 5th as the torque multiplication allows you to overcome the wind resisitance and wind it out to redline. Whereas the stock ratio will run out of legs at a lower rpm.

My racecar has a 5:12 in it, I have yet to drive the car. But from what you guys are saying I may be putting this welded 4:88 in or just put the 4:88 gears in the LSD.
