Question **Help With DriveShaft Flange***

the flange on the differential is small because of the 4.44 gears. is there any way of changing the flange so i could fit the bigger driveshaft in there??? help

I'm pretty sure flanges are interchangeable throughout all 1st gen years. I just recently had a 3rd member custom built. It came out of an 83' automatic with an open diff, I had a guru diff installed along with 4.44 gears and then I switched the driveshaft flange to a pre 83' style so I could keep my existing 82' driveshaft, which was the last year that had replaceable u-joints. On top of all that the new 3rd member is going into a GSL-SE rear end.
Diffs do need to be set correctly....labor to set mine up was $250, so I know its not easy.

What you need to figure out is if loosing the nut on the flange messes up the alignment of the diff gears, if so...I say just keep the flange on there and swap the driveshaft.

ok yeah i was under a 83 and saw that nut and flange damn i should have taken it. but yeah i have the drive shaft also with the replaceable u-joints.

someone tells me its the lightened steel flywheel that has me going through them. its seems that the u-joint at the rear gets play and makes a clicking sound...and it seems as if the flange on the diff has play...do you have this problem??? hope my gears arent fucked...can i bring my car to your guru...maybe sometime this weekend?????
