$100 GS Update: so THATS why it was cheap...
(Last episode: new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and known good starter)
Part 2: "A Fun Evening"
Checked all fusible links (including the secret one on the starter) and fuses with voltmeter, they are fine but still no starter turning.
Unbolted starter, supported with wires attached, still had no turning: so it's electrical and not Carbon Lock.
Played with headlight switch: up, down, up, down, up, - and then they both stayed up. Heard relays clicking in retractor motors, so re-checked fusible link it was fine. Odd.
Still no wiper action either.
Manually lowered lights, switch still had no effect.
Moment of brilliance: checked ugly corroded battery - a mere 10 volts. Swapped in DieHard from Honda Accord (12.6 volts!) - and THE STARTER TURNED THE MOTOR OVER! And the wipers came on! Immediately turned them off. I tried the lights: they flew up and zoomed down with either switch. But when I did that, the wipers twitched. Not a good sign...
Sprayed starter fluid into carb, cranked engine repeatedly, no firing but suddenly an odd splurting noise came from engine compartment.
There's oil all over the driver's side. Now what? I had my wife crank the motor while I felt a spurt of oil shoot out from under the stupid 84/85 oil cooler - the seals must've died from sitting too long.
Had a sudden thought: I'm not going to take the time to fix that if this motor is really dead. I went and bought a cheap compression tester, hooked it up, and had my (immensely understanding and helpful) wife crank it.
And the damn starter was silent again. No wipers either. I rechecked the links and fuses, they are fine.
So there's an intermittent short somewhere in the starter's circuit, the oil cooler seals are shot, and I still haven't heard a single ignition event.
Wish me luck...

I'd think the fun of troubleshooting and figuring out what is wrong is well worth the $100.00.
At any rate, sell the alternator, compressor, and carb and get your money back if needed.
