How true!
I paid $300 for my 79 Rx-7. My friend said it would be yellow because it had an automatic transmission....guess what?!? he was right. Turns out all 79's with automatics were yellow.
The body was in excellent condition. The car had sat for 13 years (I bought it in 1995). After some tinkering and a carb rebuild kit, I got it to start/run. OMG!!! I've never seen so much smoke without an actual fire.
Several years and more than $8,000 later, I have a pristine yellow Rx-7 that gets 11 mpg and 11 miles per quart of oil. What fun!

"When hitting the redline buzzer actually makes you laugh, so you do it again without fear." is still got to be one of my favs!
heres my contribution:
When some one sees my car for the first time and tells me " this was my first car i bought brand new"........i chuckle and tell them..."this is the first car i purchased with my own money" .....20 years later lol.

...When you can run faster tehn your car accelerates in first gear.
... When you lose to a riced out civic from a stand still, and then toy with your buddy and his fancy over priced 89-vette on the freeway.
... when people recogize you buy the smoke comming from you car.
....When somone scratches your car, you hunt them down, and beat teh snot out of them, then throw rocks at their chevy pickup.
...When you can take any corner at top speed
...I can't think of anymore.

When you use words that no one else knows.
1, Logicon
2, e-shaft
3, rotor
4, omp
When you keep a small piece of wood handy to hold up your hatch.....
When you search on E-Bay at least 2 times a day for 4x110 wheels

You know you're a 1st gen owner when friends see it for the first time they pause then say "It looks so sporty."

When you bring a greasy starter and a burnt out rotor into the bed room while your g/f is reading and say "See this is why it wasn't working!" and expect her to care.

When you keep parts to replace "when I have time" in your bedroom.
When you come indoors and get told "strip and get those cloths in the wash then go have a shower. you stink and I'm getting dizzy."
For the next day every time you walk into your bedroom you think "it smells like gas in here".
(I worked on a fuel line last weekend.)
