i have a-se rear off of an 85 and was wondering if the calipers from an 83 gsl would fit on my -se rear. i know the rotors are different but was not sure if the calipers were.

is that because of the earlier year or the size difference between the rotors?

Look at mazdatrix or somewhere else that sells brake calipers and see if they list different parts for the 83 and 85. I'm sure you're going to have to buy calipers for an 85.

yep. a couple years ago mazda superceeded the rear gsl-se pads to the FD ones!

so the FD and the GSL-SE have the same brake pads? which must make them similar in other ways too...

Looks like the rear pads are a cross, but not the calipers. I assume you have priced stuff out at rockauto.com?
