What you think of this 84 fb?

Hey guys,

this car is currently for sale not far from me, what do you guys think about this car?
http://hantonyc.monchar.com/

First the negetive.

The owner thinks the apex seal is done for.
The 15" rims need tires.(would be selling the rims)
problem with front breaks.
and need a paint job.

the good

streight body
the floor at the front was redone.
custome 15x7 with 5" lip
new starter
new battery
4 original 13" rims
clutch cyleneder - 1 year old
new 1 year old clutch
diff seal 1 year old
repainted interor.

If i get this car i will be using my current fb (83 gsl) as the donner car, then sell my 83 for parts of part it out.

What do you guys think? should i try to get it?
would anyone be interested in the 15" rims w/o tires? or should i just wide body it,(how much would it cost to get a wide body?)

thanks in advance

p.s. if the car is not sold there will be another v8 fb on the streets:/

Project Car

It would make a good project car if you have $$ to spend. I wouldn't pay anymore than $300 for that car. I got mine for $500 w/new brakes, clutch 400 mi. on it, new rotors,& new drums. Here's pic '81 Mazda RX-7 fully stock,no rust.

How much would the rims sell for?

Uploaded the photos for thouse who might not want to navigate away from the site.

Also any ideas how much thouse 15" rims could fatch for? Just a ball park.

I'm currently planing to buy an 1990 GTU so buying another fb was not part of my plans.
So i would like to see what i can get for the parts that i don't really need to ease the burden.

and JoeMazda, i plan to use my 83 GSL as a donner to get this car on the road as the body on my 83 was involved in several accidents, has a broken side mirror, the door was damaged. The hood is welded on, the radiotor is also welded. The car was defenitly invovled in a head on collision. Did i mention that i spent a good 3 weeks of last summer just rewelding the frame and getting rid of body rust, but it still is in an extremly bad condition. Needless to say i am looking to spend $$ either way. It's only good point is the lsd, trany and motor heh.

thanks for looking

Keep the wheels and go widebody! Throw some nicer seats and a black interior in it. It has potential.

Do you normaly buy wide body/fender flares or just custome make them? I guese fabricating would be cheaper with better/custome fit results.

I'm no expert in this, but with thouse rims wouldn't the ball bearings go bad quicker due to extra force being applied to the axels and the bearings?

As of right now i don't actualy plan on porting or doing any engine work either then an engine swap for a working 12a engine, Wouldn't thouse wheels actualy slow down the car and reduce corner handling on uneven/cracked roads?

Black fender flares, repaint the car in the same blue. Keep the wheels. It will look like an old school 240z or GTR. Upgrade to FC brakes. They are only 15x7 wheels. I'm running 15x7 Konigs with 25mm spacers and the car drives just like stock.

Good luck, but don't look.

I tried looking for a car last year couldn't find a single one, now that i'm not looking i got 2 new FBs and 1 FC. all for under 500 each.

I Think the end result of having a parts car is defenitly worth it, especialy if it has the parts you need to make yours look nicer, or run better.
